Winter hiking
Just a few metres from the Tannenalm, snow-covered forest roads wind their way through the peaceful forests of the Stummerberg up to snow-covered mountain pastures and ridges. After a hearty breakfast or lunch at the Tannenalm, you can walk or snowshoe through the Alpine idyll. The winter hiking trails around your holiday home make the ascent easy.
Would you like to explore the winter landscape off the beaten track? Hike alone with nature on snowshoes over glistening powder snow and reach paths where you would already be half-submerged in snow on foot. If the weather is suitable, you can follow the Märzenbach stream up to the Gmünder Alm and marvel at its bizarre creations of water and ice.
Once you reach the gentle valley basin of the Gmünder Alm, you will see snow-covered peaks shining against the deep blue winter sky or mystically emerging from the mist. Discover the magic of the cold season on a winter hike to the Kapaunsalm or to the alpine pastures of the Märzengrund and melt into the silence of the mountains.
Ski tours
Away from the lifts, cable cars and crowds, you can get to know the most beautiful and remote spots in the Zillertal in a special way on a ski tour. With climbing skins on your skis, you can tackle even steep ascents without too much effort.
Depending on the weather, your condition and your mood, you can glide on touring skis through the Märzengrund, up to the Schartenjoch and even into the Alpbachtal or up to the Kapaunsjoch and the Speikspitze (Mannsjoch). A wonderful and easy ski tour leads directly from the 4* Alpengasthof Tannenalm to the 2,220 m high Schartenjoch. Through the forest, along forest paths and clearings, you reach the snow-white meadows of the Brunnalm. Behind the alpine pasture, a hollow leads to the mountain ridge and from there to the summit on the right.
Heart pounding! There's nothing better than making your own first tracks through the snow-covered deep-snow slopes and really feeling yourself again. Into the parlour! The best way to round off an exciting winter's day is with a hot cup of tea and a delicious snack in the Tannenalm.
Winter via ferrata
For some time now, particularly courageous winter sports enthusiasts have been able to view the surrounding peaks from a special vantage point: After 420 metres in altitude on the approx. 1.5 kilometre long winter via ferrata in the Kaltenbach-Hochzillertal ski area, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view at the end of the alpine trail.
